RE: Oregon/California border, agricultural inspection?

Well, I made it! It was open and manned. He asked me the usual questions. And then waved me on.

RE: Oregon/California border, agricultural inspection?

Ok thanks. I guess I will just bag it up and keep it in the cab. If they want it, they can have it.

Oregon/California border, agricultural inspection?

I know there is one on I-15 going south from NV. What about on I-5 coming from Oregon? Do I need to throw away my fruit I have bought in Washington before heading out tomorrow?

RE: Primm NV

I have overnighted at Whiskey Pete's without any problem. I was parked to the east of the Casino with several other RVs on New Year's Day 2 years ago.

RE: Redding, CA to Lee Vining, CA

Man I love this place! Thanks for that route! I am going next week, will be leaving Redding Thursday. I will keep a close eye on the weather.
OK, I plugged in Redding to Susanville, and MS ST&T suggested route 44. Is 36 better? Or should I use 44?

RE: I-17 from Phoenix to Flagstaff - Decent or steep?

Drove that route about 7 years ago, without the trailer. There are a few grades, but nothing extremely severe such that you are describing. It is an interstate, and I think the max grade on interstates is 6%.

RE: Campground Review Sites

RV Park reviews recently improved their maps to make them clickable. A HUGE improvement to an already great site!

RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

and when I pulled the handle to release the jaws the fiver started slowly rolling backwards...almost to the point of the front legs coming off the blocks! This is one reason I don't put anything under my landing gear, unless the ground really needs it, like it is muddy, or really soft dirt.
I see some people put 6-10 inches of blocks under the landing gear. This is just asking for an accident! lower the legs to the ground, that is what they are designed to do!

RE: NO HOT WATER

My bypass valve is in the line nearest the water heater, I had to remove an access panel to get to the back of my water heater from inside.
Where it is really depends on how they put your rig together.

RE: NO HOT WATER

The bypass is most likely really close to your water heater.

RE: Grandparents missing - Destin 5th Wheel rental

When I read the topic title, I thought you meant your grandparents had rented a 5th wheel, and now they are missing!

RE: NO HOT WATER

Is this a new rig? Have you ever had hot water? It is possible that the bypass valve is thrown the wrong way.

RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

. Is that the problem the claw opens up and releases the hitch?
.Not usually. Those claws have the pivot point at the back, so when the trailer is pulling, they are actually pulling it closed, rather than trying to pull them open, as you might expect.

RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

Wow that hurts.
Somewhere on this forum I read where it was suggested when you are ready to move the rig (all hitched up), only raise the landing gear nominally 1 inch above the ground; enough that you can pull forward a few feet without the landing gear touching the ground. With the trailer brakes applied (manually) roll forward such that the trailer brakes are holding you in place; then pull a little harder to make sure the hitch jaws are holding. If they fail the trailer will drop back down on the landing gear. The landing gear much cheaper to replace than bent bead rails. It's called a pull test. (do a search here, you will find dozens of threads about it) My Reese manual says this is mandatory. You raise the legs about 1/2 inch, they shouldn't be damaged if the trailer comes loose.

RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. Some people say there are two types of 5th wheelers, those who have dropped, and those who will soon.
Do you know what the problem was? What kind of hitch do you have?
